For families asking, “Are they really okay at home?”
They may be managing. You still want to know what you're missing.
Small changes can be easy to overlook.
Maybe your loved one is holding onto furniture, avoiding the stairs, struggling to stand from certain chairs, or becoming less confident walking around the house. Perhaps there has already been a fall, hospitalization, or noticeable decline in mobility.
An Independent at Home Assessment replaces guesswork with professional guidance—without threatening the independence your loved one values.
A recent fall, hospitalization or gradual change in mobility can make everyday spaces feel less predictable. This visit replaces guesswork with a professional set of eyes and a practical next-step plan.

Professional Guidance Without Scare Tactics
Your assessment is performed by Dr. Austin Treadwell, DPT, a licensed physical therapist with experience helping older adults improve their balance, walking, transfers and overall confidence.
The goal is not to tell someone they can no longer live alone. The goal is to identify practical risks, explain the available options and help the family make informed decisions.
Recommendations are collaborative, realistic and centered around what matters to the person living in the home.
Serving the Twin Cities
In-home assessments are available throughout Minneapolis–St. Paul and nearby communities, including:
New Brighton, Roseville, Shoreview, Arden Hills, Mounds View, White Bear Lake, Minneapolis and St. Paul.
Extended travel may be available for an additional fee.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my parent need to have fallen already?
No. Many families schedule proactively after noticing changes in balance, walking, stairs, transfers or confidence.
Will you tell them they can’t live alone?
The assessment identifies modifiable risks and practical options. Recommendations will be realistic, but will also respect the older adult’s goals, preferences and autonomy.
Is this billed through insurance?
This is a straightforward private-pay service, so there is no insurance authorization or waitlist. If skilled physical therapy appears appropriate, available options can be discussed.
Can family members participate from another city?
Yes. With the client’s permission, family members can participate by phone or video and receive an explanation of the written recommendations.
